In My El Camino

Lyrics

"In My El Camino"
Music & Lyrics by Scott Cooley.

I gotta full tank, got my 8-track cranked, I’m on a roll (andale arriba)

Cool as can be, in my wife-beater T, watchin’ out for pot holes

'Cause I’m puttin’ out that 70’s vibe

Because I know I’m one of a kind

I'm haulin’ a heavy load, in my El Camino

Rollin’ on down the road, in my El Camino

You can call it a trar, you can call it a cruck

Just get out of my way ‘cause I don’t give a #$@%

Keepin' it on the down low, in my El Camino

Just got paid, now I’m out to get laid, look out hos  (andale arriba)

With a fresh box of reds, I’m turnin’ heads, sippin’ sloe gin

‘Cause I’m a little bit different than the average guy

Because I had trouble makin’ up my mind

I'm haulin’ a heavy load, in my El Camino

Rollin’ on down the road, in my El Camino

You can call it a trar, you can call it a cruck

Just get out of my way ‘cause I don’t give a #$@%

Keepin' it on the down low, in my El Camino

Rollin’ on down the road, in my El Camino

Brief Description

I wondered what kind of person drives an El Camino, since I've never met one, so I imagined a character and wrote from his perspective.  This is one of those songs where I started with a bass groove, then constructed the rest of the song around it.  "trar" and "cuck" could've been "tar" and "cruck," but weren't.
