One More Mile To McDonald's

Lyrics

"One More Mile To McDonald's"
Music & Lyrics by Scott Cooley.

One more mile to McDonald’s, I can already taste the fries

I can smell that Big Mac, and I can see those apple pies

So driver won’t you take me there, and tell me no more lies

It’s one more mile to McDonald’s, I just read it on that sign

One more mile to McDonald’s, I just thought I’d let you know

I know you don’t wanna stop, but I’ve really got to go

So get off at the next exit, and don’t you dare tell me no

There’s one more mile to McDonald’s, you can see the golden arches glow

I can almost hear “May I take your order?”

I don’t even care if they say please

I want a chocolate milkshake

And a quarter pounder with cheese

One more mile to McDonald’s, you don’t have to be so mean

And who knows, we might see Ronald, and the bathrooms are usually clean

They always have that scalding-hot coffee, and I know you could use some of that

There’s one more mile to McDonald’s, it don’t matter ‘cause I’m already fat

There’ll be a teenage girl at the counter

You know the one with all the zits

The burgers they’ve been sittin’ there for hours

They make you wait for a Filet-O’-Fish

You deserve a break today, so pull over and let me drive

It’s one more mile to McDonald’s, so kick back and enjoy the McRide

Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce and cheese

Pickles and onions on a sesame seed bun, yeah

Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce cheese

Pickles onions on a sesame seed bun

So get off at the next exit, and don’t you dare tell me no

There’s one more McMile to McDonald’s, you can see the golden arches glow

Brief Description

This is a song I wrote about the restaurant everyone knows about, but are afraid to admit they like because they like to think fast food is beneath them.  They might pretend they don't know much about McDonald's, but they're lying because everyone grows up knowing what they're all about at least due to their advertising. To me it's comforting to know they're all pretty much the same - you know what to expect.  Also, they're everywhere so it's easy to find one nearby.  It was once a symbol of growth when a small town gets one - of moving up a notch in civilization, like Starbucks is now.  When on a long road trip in a car on an expressway in the sticks, seeing the golden arches in the distance can be like finding an oasis in a desert.
