This is a song I wrote about McDonald's.  It's hard for people to admit they like McDonald's restaurants maybe because they don't want to admit they like fast food as if it's beneath them.  They might pretend they don't know much about McDonald's, but they're lying because everyone knows what they are all about.  You grow up knowing what they're all about - even knowing their advertising.  They're everywhere, and they're a part of American culture.  To me it's comforting to know they're all pretty much the same - you know what to expect.  Also, they're everywhere so it's easy to find one nearby.  It's a symbol of growth when a small town gets one - of moving up a notch in civilization.  When on a long road trip in a car on an expressway, seeing the golden arches in the distance is like finding an oasis in a desert.  That's what this song is about.
