Light Years

"Light Years"
Music & Lyrics by Scott Cooley.

Sometimes it feels like the weight of the world is on your shoulders

And sometimes it feels like there’s a monkey on your back

Sometimes life can get heavy so I’d rather be far out

So before you get too far off track…

Just give me light years, when time flies

That’s when I’ll know that I’ve been having a good time

Just give me light years, and get me away from here

I’m tired of tryin’ to get ahead, so make me disappear

Make the rest of this life flash before my eyes

With the power to pause and rewind

I only want the highlights as I fly the friendly skies

Just give me light years, when time flies

Sometimes it feels like forever just to get through a day

And sometimes it feels like life is just a daily grind

Sometimes you work so hard, you forget to have fun

So instead of just getting by…

Repeat Chorus

Maybe fast-forward is all I need
Or a virtual reality machine
Gotta stop taking it all so seriously
Gotta get busy livin’ the dream

Repeat Chorus

Brief Description

Light Years is a weird song I wrote - it's weird in it's concept I guess.  Although something similar has been done before this one - the concept is kind of like the theme in the song I Wanna Be Sedated by the Ramones - wanting to just be knocked out unconscious until some more exciting time in the future so you can avoid the current dread.
