You Got Ghosted

You thought her love would never change
But she cheated and lied, then things got strange
She cut all ties, had to go astray
Her spirit might linger, but it's gonna float away
She's dead to you now, her former self is gone
This ship has sailed, now you've gotta move on
You got ghosted, she didn't reply
No text, no call, and no reason why
You got ghosted, she never said goodbye
Didn't want confrontation, or to see you cry
If you knew the truth, you'd never take her back
That's why she had to stage a disappearing act
You'll get over her soon, there's no need to explain
She might haunt you for a while, but time will make her fade
She's dead to you now, her former self is gone
This ship has sailed, now you've gotta move on
You got ghosted, she didn't reply
No text, no call, and no reason why
You got ghosted, she never said goodbye
Didn't want confrontation, or to see you cry
You got ghosted, now she's a shadowy trace
So put her out of your mind, and forget her face
You got ghosted, she knew she lost her chance
And she didn't deserve any more of your romance
She could apologize in person, admit she was bad
Beg your forgiveness, and promise to be better
But she'd feel guilty, so she'll hover into the foggy mist
No last kiss and no breakup letter
You got ghosted, a French goodbye
She just up and vanished in the blink of an eye
You got ghosted, she's not friendly like Casper
Had to stop all contact before the disaster
You got ghosted, she took the easy way out
But it's a waste of time to try to hunt her down
You got ghosted, like a snahp chaht she's gone
But you're better off, so now it's time to move on
Information
An early draft of this had the lyrics as "I" got ghosted, but after reading songwriting advice from some old country guy in Nashville, I changed it to "you" because he said never write anything that makes the singer look bad, and anytime a song is about yourself and negative, make it be about someone else, so the bad unflattering things happen to him, not you.
